Moon Eyes

Night sky

By DAVID SPERO

My heart

falls over itself

in silence

and wraps itself

in the fondest way

before first dawn.

Never to be known

in the most intricate movement

of my mind

are the

moon eyes

that hold me,

like endlessly gentle seas,

with so little stirring of breath.
